I just look in the mirror and ask, “What would he write?” And then do the opposite. Then just sit back and wait for my reversal of fortunes. And if I’m feeling really adventurous, I’ll do it in a funhouse mirror.
I broke all 9 rules on the list. Probably explains my low subscriber count. Lol. Fun post Angela, I agree, you gotta just do what you do, it may not lead to rapid growth but you will find your audience and enjoy the work doing it.
Ha! Thanks for playing along Frater, you rule breaker! Love it! Yes, the urge for the quick path to success is hard to resist, it's an overlooked temptation that can never replace the effort, the blood, sweat, tears from following one's own way. I do think some tools are useful so I'm not saying throw the baby out with the bath water, but it's ridiculous that there is SO much of this on these platforms.....feels like talking heads, I'd rather watch someone make a cup of coffee than spout their, so called, tried and true formulas to get more likes.
Phenomenal post funny as hell, I was laughing hard but yet closed with awesome wisdom written so well. It’s definitely a pleasure to have come across your writing on Substack and I get something out of it every time. Thank you for being you, and a good sense of humor.
Thanks Chris, so glad you got a chuckle, I know I'm all over the place sometimes but I write whatever I feel moved to write and sometimes life is hilarious so ..got to roll with it. :) Appreciate you being here and for the comments.
I've been having that same experience of Substack serving up a lot of stuff that seems superficial and actually stupid. Now I can appreciate throwing in a few things that are "off-algorithm," just for variety and exposure of new writers, but that's not what seems to be going on.
And thanks for your snarky take on the "success" thing. I find it cringe and uninteresting. Like you, I'll go my own way, thanks.

Are you an anti algorithm algorithm?
Haha the algorithm doesn't like people who don't try to get likes for the algorithm

Much gratitude.
"...tune in to the frequency of Your own soul and then share that with the world." Luv that.
Thanks Douglas!

It's interesting to see how things change but really just end up doing the same thing when it comes to these technology platforms.
You've cracked the code! ;-)
Love this... <3
haha, it's out there for all the world to see, LOL!
