You do not create the moment, it just is.
You can make the “most of it”…but what does that mean?
How do you “make” the “most” of it? It’s so fast, even if it seems like we’re moving slow…poof, there it went. We can make the most of a string of moments but not a single one.
Making the most of it could mean being fully present as the observer? It could mean recognizing the sacredness of the gift of life?
Some say “use the good dishes” beyond special occasions and I agree, but that seems like a pretty low bar to set. The fine china can only make the moment better if the people make the moment better. It could enhance the special feeling of an experience, but if there is no awareness or the host is stressed about the dishes breaking, then that energy carries onward. Fancy makes not the moment, even though it can be a nice experience, so can eating on a paper plate in your bare feet swatting mosquitos.
The truth is, we do need special moments, otherwise nothing would feel special if everything was (even though it is). This is why some tradition can be useful and a way to bring people together, a seeking of connection, an attempt at bridging gaps and finding common ground inside the conscious (and unconscious) collective.
The act of creating beauty in life does change moments. From your home to your outer expression, from your art or your profession, the environment in question is a part of the progression, it all makes an impression.
It’s stange because many of our moments are spent sleeping. I love sleeping because I have a strange and wonderful relationship with the dream realm that often bleeds into real life. Is sleeping well making the most of it? Is lucid dreaming making the most of it? Does the moment matter?
Quotes like “make every moment matter” insinuates that your focus should be on MATTER, the physical realm, and that makes the most sense, as we are here in physical form having quite an experience, if I do say so myself? LOL (yes, I still use LOL, if you are going to read my work, I shall give away my age by my phrases and words and I whole heartedly accept this, it is one of my quirks).
Is a moment, now? Now reversed is won, so wouldn’t it be winning to be in the now moment? God, I hate it when new agers say things like “all we have is this now moment,” but sometimes they get it right as much as I hate to admit it. Everyone has some truth they carry around, like it or not. 😉
We are guaranteed a past, but we are not guaranteed a future…or are we?
I’m pretty sure we have future memories; I feel like I do sometimes. It’s unexplainable, yet part of the whole idea around deja vu, past lives, and everything being wrapped up into one spiraling continuum. Am I the only one?
I’m not convinced our exit with the reaper is pre-ordained since we were granted free will, but because both are on the same wave within the paradox, they must be working together (free will and destiny that is) …maybe our choices offer up delays…the reaper patiently waits, like the vulture, just the janitor, man, the clean-up crew of fate.
If ment means mind then is the moment all in the head…nah?
It seems like all these moments add up, but then does that mean they are substracting when we re-visit a memory…after all, that’s just a moment stored up in the head?
Wisdom does accumulate and one thing I’ve learned is that both unplanned and planned moments are only memorable if there is something outside of the ordinary at play…a spark, adrenaline of the heart, an experience forever marked, heightened blips on life’s flow chart!
I watch the sunset night after night, every time it’s different, more moments like this, please, Universe?
Then, there is this idea of waiting for the perfect moment, which we all know is not possible, yet have believed at one time or another.
False beliefs like:
If I am enough, then I will meet the one.
If I have enough, then I will be able to feel safe and secure.
If I do enough, then I will make a difference.
If I earn enough, then I will be able to enjoy life.
The truth is..not that. We cannot hold steady to what “might be,” only what is. Yes, we can work towards something, we can become better/healthier/more creative/richer/wiser...whatever, but life will always surprise us…and those moments make us, break us, or give us something to remember, hope for, cherish…and sometimes want to forget.
Don’t wait for a perfect moment, for there is only ever right now.
What can you do with a moment?
Have you ever had an exchange with someone where there were no words needed, just a knowing, a (now)ing? Sometimes it is just connecting in resonance to another who is riding the same wave that gives comfort that there is more to this story than what we think…perceive…or even experience.
Opportunities that, without words, say: I see you. I feel you. I hear you. I know you.
A stranger can feel like a familiar friend.
It’s gnosis inside a shared moment speaking to us form the inside out, a place beyond words…the aetheric playground.
Enjoy the moment
Hold up a glass
Time is never ending
Yet moves too fast
All we have is now
a gift that plants seeds
may we not furrow brows
for worry only brings weeds
life is here, until it is not
and this here moment
is all you’ve got…
(p.s. I know weeds have a lot of medicinal value and I love them, but it rhymed and you know what I meant)
Everything can change in a moment. Change is also a symbol of coins, abundance, a penny waiting to be discovered on the ground…a moment that whispers, where heads or tails can be found. May your day bring you change, the kind that lights you up…I hope it’s a little strange and something that lights you up!
Thanks for passing a moment with me.
With love and irrational-rational wisdom, kiss the moment, it’s delicious,

The Irrational Sage
My mindset is one of “grab each moment, crack it open and suck out the marrow.” I spend a lot of time in physical pain and soreness, and will likely die some kind of exciting death, but I don’t waste moments. Often.

Beautiful poetry and sunset.
So true about the now. I love the sunset picture and that you can view it from your farm every night. Also, yes deja vu can be a memory about your future (like a dream you had about a future moment). I laughed at your “darn those new agers are right sometimes.” I get that. I’m just an old school Hermeticist. But my favorite part was the unspoken moments of gnosis between strangers. That’s the stuff. Great writing as always. I’m not accusing you of talking to yourself but if you do, pretty sure you rhyme it. 😀
