Apocalypse means an unveiling, revealing or disclosure and can feel cataclysmic in the sense that being exposed to new information about the world or the self can bring about cognitive dissonance, sadness or pain.
There are times where these revelations happen upon us unexpectedly and shake the world a bit to help us see something we weren’t searching for, but probably needed to see.
If an outer event happens that shakes someone into a state of revelation it might propel them into seeking…and it might not.
The dark night of the soul is inevitable if you are truly seeking truth and to know yourself, to make sense of the world around you by being courageous and willing to unearth the unconscious parts of yourself. It’s not fun, but it is rewarding, well more like glorious! Bringing things to light is a process of sorrow and grieving in its intitial stages, a stark realization like a “deer in headlights” with glowing eyes darting at you on a dark highway. This metaphor of the deer is the Universe testing to see if you are fast enough to divert catastrophe and demands you pay attention to tiniest light in the darkness because this is where the gold waits for extraction.
The thinning of the veil, the apocalypse, does reveal uncomfortable truths, it holds up a mirror to everything you’ve participated in that contributed to the horror that shapes the world (the inversion called good), it highlights flaws, addictions, mistakes, traumas, narcissistic traits, repressed emotions, and it does this because you can’t heal what you can’t see, avoid, numb or suppress. This process is sort of like a life review, an opportunity to right wrongs, shift limiting beliefs, change bad habits or patterns, alchemize what is stuck and forgive yourself and others while you’re here instead of after death.
On the other side of this process is where the gold lives, the willingness to keep going, to see what is true despite the pain you know it may reveal, despite how it may turn your life upside down (or really rightside up), despite all that can be lost from stepping into the arena and shedding layers of conditioning, programming, obligations, expectations, hidden fears and coming back out into the world uncloaked from the false persona. Step right up beloved, dare to walk through life as your true self, marvel at your ability to be seen in an unwavering glow of Divine knowing that this moment is here for seizing, this life is here to be of service to the Creator, that this body, mind and spirit is not broken and there are new things to discover daily about yourself, new ways to connect to the All, new life to be birthed through your unique gifts, experiences and way of being.
And if that isn’t enough, there is another treasure that waits. The unconscious not only holds up the things we don’t want to see and need to heal, but also hidden things like a creative talent or urge, a new purpose, the ability to find joy in the mundane, the appreciation and awe of this realm, a connection to the heart, more compassion for humanity, and a deepening love for God, for life, for living, for showing up for yourself in a way that teaches you how to love yourself so that you can do the same for others, so that you can feel without fearing the pain that may come from loving, so that you can feel the fear of embarking on a new journey and have trust in the Divine plan, so that you can embrace the wholeness of living in all of its messiness, ugliness, chaos, order, beauty, duality, while not being again swayed so far off balance that the Universe has to shake you in the way it once did…because now you go willingly, you’ve learned what it means to surrender.
The gold waits, the key to the treasure is inside of you, the darkness is the way there and you don’t have to “fall” down the rabbit hole, you can leap in knowing the glimmering light above and the spark within will guide you back home to yourself. You’re going to get distracted, you’re going to take the wrong road sometimes, you’re going to wish you didn’t peak into the mystery, you’re going to hit some bumps….and you’re going to crave more of it because truth sets you free and the present moment is always the present (gift) you can return to when you feel unsteady.
And remember, that gold, that truth, that is excavated up from the shadow has power and brings responsibility.
May your roots grow deep and your branches reach far.
May your spark shine bright and your life ignite others.
May you know you hold the key because you are the treasure.
May your focus be sharp and your attention pointed in the right direction so you can spot the gold when it glimmers in front of you.
May the digging for gold be a journey you’ll never forget and be ever so glad you took.
Blessings,
