To learn to stand upright in a sovereign state of being, knowing thyself, while simultaneously being fully interconnected to all that is outside of us, is to move from raging against the machine to saging inside the machine.
You may read this heading and think I’m talking about the herb and its clearing properties for negative energy, but that is not the case. It would be nice if we could just “sage” away the machine, the madness, the mess, the stress, the challenges, the inconveniences, the worries, the lessons, but as much as I am a proponent for using this amazing herb, the sage inside the machine is our ability to use our inner wisdom to better navigate the world around us.
Sage against the machine is about releasing all the resistance to fighting something illusory, fiction, something outside of ourselves and instead using our innate wisdom to be in relation to all things. This concept is to reach a sense of Tao within us, a sovereign assurance of coherence and connectedness to the Creator through mind, body, and soul. It’s about reaching the center, the bridge to heaven and earth within us and holding on to this balance, this harmony of being in a state of flow, while also being a warrior of the heart and spirit.
To be a warrior of heart and spirit is not to fight the outer world “hoping” for change at the hands of another, but to overcome ourselves and stand witness to the outer change that comes from the inside out.
A tree grows deep roots and a foundation to hold its trunk like an unwavering spine, while allowing the branches to reach, move, dance, play, connect to the outer world, so too is the individuated soul.
The resistance and rage often wielded towards the outside world, towards the perception of it being unfair, towards the judgement that everything is wrong, is merely a stepping stone towards the recognition that it is also all perfect, just, and Divinely orchestrated.
Trying to make sense of things that can never make sense propels a state of victimhood and lack of faith between the pendulum of free will, self-responsibility, karma, natural law, cause/effect and its opposite Divine flow, inner wisdom, cosmic guidance, synchronicity.
The more we drill down to the details to find truth, the more we lose the essence of connection to the Creator and the more we zoom out and only focus on the Creator, we lose the essence of our connection to our humanity. We must not forget the Divinity inside our own human experience.
As one goes through this process it’s easy to focus all on what is wrong with the world and falling “down” into a state of disassociation, hopelessness, helplessness, apathy or fall “up” into a state of disassociation, hopelessness, helplessness, apathy, for both can manifest the same result when the inner equilibrium is lost. To only focus on the good is to deny reality, to deny the lessons, avoid the challenges, be fearful of discomfort. Yet to only focus on the bad is to deny the limitless possibilities of life, miss out on the joy and forget to savor the bountiful blessings ever-present.
To sage inside the machine is to invite mystery into the inner-knowing, to invite trust inside uncertainty, to invite Divine guidance inside free will, to know there is something on the other side of raging against the machine waiting to propel you into your next chapter.
Inside of everyone lives a Sage holding experience, judgement and wisdom, inviting everyone to take the reigns of life and let go of all of the rationality by a world that is lost inside the hive-mind consciousness, trapped inside the pressure of what one should or shouldn’t do. Inside the machine many rage against lives captivating answers for moving through the insanity of this world and moving into the navigation system of our own internal compass that is always connected to the Great Spirit.
If you want to set yourself free, open the caged door and sing your own song, fly free little bird, fly free…..and don’t forget to bring a little sage with you.
May your day be filled with what may seem like irrationality to the outside world, but sage advice that you know what is best for you, 😉
