Since calculators showed up, people have forgotten how to calculate.
Since spell check showed up, people have forgotten how to spell.
Since emoji’s showed up, people have forgotten how to use sentences.
Since social media showed up, people have forgotten how to connect.
Since cell phones showed up, people have forgotten how to make eye contact.
Since texting showed up, people have forgotten how to communicate.
Since online dating showed up, people have forgotten how to show up.
Since dopamine hits took over, people have forgotten their attention spans.
Still there? Good, then you are an anomaly.
Do you really think the new AI marketing, chat GPT and other artificial ways of pretending to communicate is going to enhance the human experience, deepen knowledge, bring about more longevity, drive more connection, authenticity, critical thinking and human skills to thrive in life? I can look at the history within my own lifespan and experiences that tell me the answer is a most definite, NO.
I was going to make a post on Linkedin and noticed the new “draft with AI” option pops up. Really Linkedin? No thank you.
When you don’t take time to write you own information from your heart, from the unique version of you for which no one else in the world has your life experience and perspective, you are cheating the reader out of a genuine experience, you’re cheapening you and you are pretending to be someone that you’re not.
I understand the AI may sound great, may create beautiful images or clever marketing messages crafted at the touch of a button, but it’s not real. AND by relying on this technology, we’re losing ourselves even more into the machine.
Sure, accepting the “drafted by AI” invitation may save time, it may make life “SEEM” to be easier, but is it? The Jetson’s cartoon burned into the subconscious of our minds in a fantastical world of ease and robots there to do everything at the touch of a button is an illusion turned into real life delusion. The positive portrayal of fantasy forgetting the dark side of a more probable outcome from the pandora’s box of technology than the one imagined looms in in the underbelly of the collective.
Of course everyone says “use the tools, don’t let them use you,” but look at the reality of what saying something versus actually doing it has created in every day lives of the masses addicted to the black mirror of screens, hopamine and validation.
So many people are making excuses for the technocratic takeover sneaking it’s way into our privacy, homes, hearts and minds, but I do not consent.
I issue a challenge to us all to flip this around.
How are you really using technology instead of letting it use you and is that button, so conveniently present to write your verbiage for you, just too enticing? Are you strong enough to resist the bait and forge your own way or will you fall into the “hands” of the AI’s robotic words pretending to be you.
As for me, I’ll write it myself. I’ll never let Artificial Intelligence do it for me because I’m here to grow, learn and expand my life skills, energy and experiences! I know that writing is an incredibly useful and powerful tool to creating the life I want to live on my terms….and I have no doubt the AI programmers must know this, which is why they are offering that enticement, the dangling carrot literally in the palm of your hands, to convince you it can do it better…..which is simply not true!
