Dancing with Shadows

Your shadow can be an ally or enemy. Dancing with it metaphorically can set it free. So often we cage the things we don’t want to see….yet it remains. A purgatory of waiting seeks your connection, the yin and yang to move together again, the balance restored.

Return to center. Address is known. You are the number. Inside is home.

Fears are not the reason why. No need to run from them and hide. The shadow shows them to your face, the light reveals the way, together you choose to step into a waltz, a quickstep or a tango.

Who are you in the shadows?
When the curtain’s pulled?
Are you hiding all your magic?
What part of you is obscured?

Peeking behind blinds
Talking with the birds
The shade hides the light
Yet reveals a lengthy yearn

I reach up to the sky
I am the shadow dancer
I invite in all the contrast
let go of finding answers
a projection of an outcast
a self-realized encounter

I see the liminal highlights
an aura soaked in a decanter
a body savoring that limelight
just to be the shadow’s redeemer
behind a veil of proper demeanor
a home with temporary walls
an enchantress dwells in secret

Intentional saboteur
wildness chauffer
solitary romancer
shadow dancer

The drapes are drawn
and truth creeps inside
as darkness comes along
locked behind closed doors
calls of desire, ever prolonged

shhhh
quiet

listen for the birdsong
the messages from beyond
a place where pain is gone
where all has been mourned
playfulness, again, can be worn
and thorns that made scars
become stories to be adorned
it's time to rise from the cave
remove the thoughtful façade
let your face be fully bare
Remove all the worries
release them from care
take off the weight-of-the-world you wear
strip down the story, the hurry
flitter into the flurry
grow a new pair…..of wings

Morning will come again
The valance will open up
Did you play by the rules?
Did you stay buttoned up?
Or dare to touch the night
with playful harmony
opening up the light
that comes through an inner well
a tunnel of potential
where life waits….confidential
a masquerade into the other-world
Where shadow dancers move
an invitation for life to unfurl
let it reveal itself to you

Can you see the shadow in a new way?
Can you let the night come out to play?
Can you sink into its worthiness?
Can you feel into its usefulness?
The shadow exists not to fear
It waits for you to draw it near
And dance with it beneath the moon
Behind the curtains of hearth,  home
…of every room
with all that you hold dear
with all that you fear
……………………….
remember, in the shadows, things are not always as they appear.
