This world seems a bit “extra” right now, in a state of madness, inversion, suffering and imbalance.
People, and I’m guilty, will often say things like, No One is Going to Save You, and that’s mostly true, but there is another side to this.
What’s not going to save you:
- Not a prince on a white horse, no matter what the Hallmark Channel says
- Not the government (even the ones who proclaim they are finally going to do something because, guess what, it’s still statism…. which cannot by its very nature of existence save anyone from anything)
- Not any guru, teacher, priest, coach or mentor who proclaims to have all the answers
- Doing the same thing expecting different results
- Wishful thinking, toxic positivity, hopium, fantastical beliefs…things that are not applicable to real life shifts or change directly impacting one’s lived experience
- Not some make-believe galactic ship of benevolent beings
- Not aliens
- Not propped up billionaires inside their corporate coats
- Not propped up billionaires inside the supermachine who believe in eugenics
- Not eugenics programs (like vaccines, birth control, GMOs…but wait, there’s more?)
- Not faith in pieces of paper or uniforms (aka, costumes)
- Not living by God’s principles and doing the work
I’ll stop myself there. 😊
The point is, we can’t count on someone to do the work for us, to save us, especially ones masked as “doing good.” There is no “get out of jail free” card.
BUT, we can work towards counting on each other as mankind, as living men and women…we can be more responsible, accountable, ethical…we can work towards cultivating greater inner peace, creativity, faith, joy, kindness and being of service to others in our own lives, which might, in turn, accidentally save someone…or at least help them get through a hard day in a really messed up world that normalizes good as evil and evil as good.
Authentic Expression is the “lower case” savior we all need…. definitely not a replacement for your relationship with God, that’s not what I’m talking about here…let me explain…
Accidental Saviors strive not to be anyone's savior but strive to be himself or herself:
- Maybe you write that song that lifts someone’s spirits or helps them express grief on a day where they feel they can’t go on.
- Maybe you’re struggling to make ends meet and a stranger buys you a coffee on a cold rainy day when everything seemed like it was falling apart.
- Maybe you simply go for a walk and someone makes eye contact with you and smiles…smiles change seconds, moments, years, lifetimes.
- Maybe that business you start inspires someone to start what they’ve dreamed of since childhood but were too afraid…maybe your courage helped someone else find theirs.
- Maybe that service you’re offering passes in front of someone at the exact moment they are ready to make that change they’ve been neglecting and Divine timing stepped in to connect you two.
- Maybe that blog you wrote touched someone’s heart on a day that it felt too hard to go on…and they left no comment, nor subscribed, just a passerby for a moment trying to survive, thank goodness you hit that Post button!
- Maybe that lady you held the door for was incredibly lonely and had given up on humanity, on kindness, that anyone cared, and that simple act restored a sense of genuine hope, of life, of prana.
- Maybe a little cat showed up or you were able to pet your neighbor’s dog on a day where the only thing that could save you from your ever-looping-mind were little paws that got you to pause.
- Maybe a fragrant flower sprouted up through the concrete in your driveway and caught your eye, or nose…and the symbolism of this on display saved you from giving up when things felt so hard, a reminder that you can bloom through challenges that seem impossible to overcome…that you can do hard things.
- Coffee…warmth in a cup that shouted You Can Do This Today! Ha! Save me from my self-defeating ways and bad habits. :)
- Phone calls from people you haven’t heard from in a while… somehow they knew exactly when to pick up the phone…or a hand-written letter that arrived in the mail in perfect timing…we must not stop doing these things in this digital age…we must infuse life through our hands, deeds, words, actions that’s how we help…it’s something grand even though it may seem insignificant.
There are so many examples I could give. I bet you have stories in your own life, probably days you’ve forgotten…or forgotten to remember…. people you’ll never know their names but never forget their faces…. moments that shifted something in you…. beauty that helped you find a silver lining….kindness that started a wave…a ripple…a domino effect.
You see, it’s no accident they wanted us 6 feet apart during the tyrannical scamdemic lock downs, it was always about the electrical exchange between the human spirit…that’s the only “real” contagion…. the Spark of Life!
In a world where heads are looking down into phones and the kindness of the human spirit seems to be waning, we must remember that we can make a difference in someone’s life today…and I am definitely not talking about big egos who think they are God, or those CEO’s, celebrities or politicians placed on a pedestal by humanity as the one who will save us all…that’s bologna…that’s passive…that is theatre…that is annoying. That takes the responsibility of being a mature adult and places in the hands of another.
Accidental saviors won’t be televised or on the social media showing false virtue, starting cults, or looking for compliments about what good people they are…they are present in whatever the moment calls for…often unexpected…people, animals, situations, experiences that touch us and guide us by living simply and with awareness…interactions that invite us to remember why we are here and what really matters.
I’m talking about the reclamation of our sovereignty, of recognizing what we can and can’t control.
When we live authentically and embody presence with how we move through our day, expressing ourselves with how we’d like to be treated, we affect the world in big ways without ever needing to know it….without needing validation ….no virtue signaling online, no pointing out differences in lines….just warm hearts offering up a little love, joy, kindness, or grace.
I know you’ve been an accidental savior…you made someone’s day…you helped someone see the light…your actions inspired someone to change direction and get back on track…
So don’t seek a false savior…
nor to be one for another…
seek to live authentically…
with good deeds….
and positive intent….
and that’s just what you’ll do…
And
you’ll accidentally make someone’s day better…
without ever knowing…
and that is beautiful…
And that’s proof of the living mystery…of God’s will for us.
In this world where everyone wants Proof of something being real, it’s the magic that we make that brings the proof our way, not the other way around.
No one’s coming to save you, it’s true, at least not in the ways of the upside down world…we have to show up for our lives, do the work and make right choices.
But sometimes there’s an accidental savior that knocks at the door as if to enter into the play, the grand theatre, at the right time, at the right moment…something that flips the ordinary into extraordinary…and if someone has done that for us, with or without knowing it, with or without being made aware of the impact they had on our day, on our life, then I’m certain the same has happened in reverse.
There’s no counting on it, you can’t even look for it, it just is…
Just like this song, sometimes there are days like this where everything falls back into place, where humanity is restored even if it’s just for a second.
Have a beYOUtiful day…. may it be one to SAVOR….and may we all make the world a better place by living from truth and authenticity because it might just make us an accidental savior…and though we’ll never know….and we don’t need to know…. we’ll just be alright being….and (practicing) the Golden Rule.
My dog and cats have definitely saved me…I don’t think I’d still be here without them…maybe it’s not accidental at all, but God’s will in action, manifest in ways that we need not call out for what is already with us..and within us.
So maybe we should stop saying, no one is going to save you, because maybe there is…maybe it just doesn’t look the way we thought it would…after all, we need each other…even if it seems we’ve forgotten…and we could learn a lot from our animal companions on the topic…for it seems they come to us as angels in disguise…accidental saviors roaming among us…if we’ll just stop to pause…I mean paws…we think we save them, but it’s always the other way around.
God puts people, places and things in our path at the right time for a reason or a season but always in an attempt to keep us on the right path.....we need each other..….…because humans like to pretend they have it all figured out…even though deep down they know they don’t.
Angela
P.S. this is for my grandmother and grandpa…..accidental saviors they were…..even if they never knew it….much love…..so much love.
when I walk out the front door of my apartment building onto a bustling street and say hello to my neighbors, it saves me every time
Maybe Arya the Cockatiel won't save me, but he is very cute.
